A note went out on TRI's FB page indicating that a special feed has been set up for people with slower connection speeds to combat the buffering...

Color me a bit surprised, but Bob and Jackie sound pretty damn good together.

Ah I hope Althea is listening! Maybe Bob heard her request that they come to Asia, and this is the best he can do at the moment!!

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Bob Weir/Jackie Greene MONTEREY

Been lurking here for several years (and hundreds of shows). Thanks to BD for giving me the added impetus to finally, officially join--I am waiting for my Bob/Jackie tix to arrive from GDTS for the Monterey acoustic show. Haven't been to the State (Theatre) since I was a kid--looks really nice. How will I know BD when I see him, so I can say hi?

Ask for Scott, my partner in the theatre, and/or staff and they'll grab me. First drink on me!

Thanks. John Prine and Justin Townes Earle on Friday should be good. Looks like Justin will be back in the spring to open for Dwight Yoakem (that's not a solid lock yet).

And forumites that look me up at our shows, via an email and/or post here, will get looked after - drink coupons, etc.

No shameless plug for Matt the Electrician? First saw him in Austin, now a big fan. Great musician/singer/songwriter with a wonderful folksy demeanor. Tells stories through his songs like Prine and his raspy voice sounds a bit like him, too. Wish I could be there.

I'm really happy to hear you say that.[see you write that?] Matt is originally from Pacific Grove (PG High alum) and the first show that my partner in the theatre ever put on was a Matt show when they were both 16. He played the Alternative Cafe many, many times and we're going to be working with him on some "Austin in Monterey" shows (Hayes Carll, James McMurtry, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, etc). The link on our site has the video that his wife directed; he's a really, really great guy.

Tomorrow night is Duncan Phillips; Utah Phillip's son. RIP UTAH!

Shake it ....

After a Saxon show some years ago I ran into him in the parking lot selling CD's. In my usual drunken haze I asked him for a copy of his 'best' CD. I immediately realized what a dumbass request it was, but ever gracious Matt just laughed out loud and handed me a copy of One Thing Right, saying "I think this one's pretty good". Great guy, indeed.

Wow, that's very cool! Good looking line-up of shows! Are you an investor? Promoter? What?

Investor - but the LLC that is running the theatre now is just me and one other guy (not that we don't have a great team in place). We do promote some of our own shows, but primarily we are working with Golden Voice as one of my oldest friends, and former Primus manager, is head of their SF office and runs the Warfield and Regency Ballroom (what was the Carousel back when). As we get our "sea legs" under us we'll move forward with doing more stuff on our own. We're also working with folkYEAH! and Snazzy Productions for some shows, while Gus Madsacks Presents did the bulk of our Alternative Cafe shows and is bringing in the up and coming acts (like Soft White 60s, Tumbleweed Wanderers, The Growlers, etc.)

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Rosie McGee Tomorrow at TRI

And tomorrow Rosie McGee should have some interesting stories:
http://www.tristudios.com/events/conversation-rosie-mcgee

From her facebook page:

"I'll show photos from my e-book, "Dancing with the Dead--A Photographic Memoir", tell stories from the 1964-1974 Grateful Dead/San Francisco music scene and have a conversation with my friend and generally awesome person, Dennis "Wiz" Leonard. I'll also take questions from the Twitter feed and emails sent in by viewers."
